Our Marching Band performed Thursday night this week, and we sounded great! We brought a ton of positive energy and enthusiasm to the game, and our National Anthem performance added solemnity to our 9/11 tribute.
We shared halftime with both the Riverdale Band, and then we performed Hurricane Season with the Haynes Jackettes. We debuted our 2025 Marching Show, and our students gave a solid performance of Bang Bang! Our drill and music continue to improve, and we are well on track for our first-ever performance at this year's District Marching Festival.
After halftime we headed to the end zone, where we enjoyed visiting and playing with the Riverdale Band! Our combined Bands sounded great, and our students enjoyed making some new friends!
Thanks to Mr. Daniel (again) for his assistance during the game, and a special Thank You goes to Mr. Jacob Russo for pulling our trailer!
We would LOVE to have our middle school musicians join us in the Marching Band! (This gives them the opportunity to play many fun songs at a very high level, and to learn from some of the best musicians in Louisiana!).
They are welcome to stay after school on Tuesday or Wednesday with us to see how things work, to meet some of our older members, and hopefully to have loads of fun playing their instrument! Please encourage your young musician to join the Marching Band, and contact Mr. Phelan with any questions.
On Sunday October 12, the President's Own Marine Band (one of the best Bands on this and many other planets!) will be performing at the East Jefferson High School Auditorium! The concert begins at 3:00, and tickets are FREE! (But, you must reserve them online, via the link below.). We encourage all of our students to attend this amazing performance by this outstanding ensemble!

We made it through Canticum this week. That wasn't nearly as hard as we first expected :)
(Spooky October, Veterans Day, and Holiday performances are all on the horizon)
Parents, please make sure to purchase the Essential Elements Books 1 and 2 for your student, so they do not fall behind. (We'll be using these books in class for reading practice and for many of their better exercises and pieces.)
We've begun working on The Entertainer, and continue to spend some time on Honor Band audition materials.
We continue to improve daily! We added Cold Hearted and Buckjump to our football playlist, and we have been working on scales every day.
We'll practice Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons until 5:30 as we prepare for our first ever Marching Festival! We'll be continuing to refine Bang Bang and I Have a Love, and will soon begin working on Flasher (our Percussion feature!)
