All classes spent some time this week talking about Hurricane Katrina, and the effects that still remain in our communities.
We are making progress, and this weekend many of us will have our instruments at home to practice!
Parents, please make sure to purchase the Essential Elements Books 1 and 2 for your student, so they do not fall behind.
We spent some time this week working on technique and scales to help with Honor Band prep, and we have continued to read some new music as we begin to narrow down our music choices for our upcoming performances. (Spooky October, Veterans Day, and Holiday performances are all on the horizon)
Parents, please make sure to purchase the Essential Elements Books 1 and 2 for your student, so they do not fall behind. (We'll be using these books in class for reading practice and for many of their better exercises and pieces.)
We worked on rudiments and sight reading this week as we prepare for Honor Band auditions, and next week we'll begin drum set!
Sight reading, scales, and slowly cleaning up our field and stands music have been our tasks this week. We are looking forward to our next performance on Sept. 5!
We'll practice Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons until 5:30 as we prepare for our first ever Marching Festival! We're working on our second piece (I Have a Love, from West Side Story), and we look forward to performing on the field for you on Sept. 11.
Please visit our Calendar for all the latest updates, and feel free to contact Mr. Phelan at any time with questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
