Thanks again to everyone who came out to support the Haynes Band for Taste and Tunes!  

Haynes Band members perform with the LPO!

Wednesday April 24 6:00 pm

Several of our Haynes Band students will be performing with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra at City Park!  We invite everyone to come out to this free event, and to cheer on our young musicians.

Jazz Band meeting

Wednesday April 24 until 4:30

Mr. Genevay will be coming out to discuss next year's Jazz Band.  We invite any interested Haynes musician to join us as we lay the groundwork for next year's Jazz Band!  

Drumline practice

Thursday April 25 until 5:30 (also next Tuesday and Thursday)

We're getting ready for our Senior Walkthrough, and also hoping to set next year's drumline! We invite any Haynes percussionist to join us as we review some of our old music and pull out some new selections.  We especially encourage our younger students to join us!  All participants must bring THEIR OWN STICKS, pads, and EARPLUGS!

Haynes Band Awards Night (in the Gym)

Wednesday May 1 6:00 pm

This brief event allows us the chance to recognize all of our young musicians, and to acknowledge their accomplishments this year. We invite everyone to attend!

Graduation practice

Tuesday May 7 until 5:30

All high school musicians are expected to attend, and we invite select middle school musicians to join us.  Everyone should have already received their music for graduation, including March from Scipio, Pomp and Circumstance, and The Thunderer.  Don't miss your chance to give our outgoing Seniors a great send-off!

Graduation

Saturday May 11 at the Alario Center (map to the Alario Center) 

8:00 am -- arrive and set-up

9:00 am -- Graduation

10:00 am -- Load and dismiss

Taste and Tunes

We're already working on this year's Taste and Tunes performance, and WE NEED YOU to help make it the best one yet!  

We ask everyone to visit our Taste and Tunes Involvement Form.  Please volunteer for one or more positions, so we can get things moving!

We will hold a brief meeting to discuss Taste and Tunes Wednesday March 20 at 6:00 pm.  We encourage everyone to come out and support our amazing students!

Other Information

Band Fee

The Haynes Academy Band charges a $30 annual fee, which covers the purchase of music, transportation, etc.  This fee has been posted to student accounts.  Please contact Mr. Phelan with questions or concerns.

Band Camp 2024

That's not a typo -- we're already looking ahead to Band Camp next July!  In order to help everyone plan their summer vacations (and to hopefully increase our Band Camp participation!) we have tentatively scheduled Band Camp 2024:

July 22-23 (Monday and Tuesday) = Percussion Camp

July 24 (Wednesday) = Drum Corps at USM in Hattiesburg

July 25-26 (Thursday and Friday) and July 29-31 (Monday-Wednesday) = Full Band Camp

We have no other details yet, including location or times, but we ask that you make every effort to have your students at Band Camp on all of those days.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Football Schedule 2024

We've added some TENTATIVE dates to our Calendar for next fall's football season.  Please remember that these are all TENTATIVE and subject to chenge, but at least we have an idea of when and where we'll be playing this fall -- we hope to see everyone there!  Thanks to Coach Powell for getting that information out early!

Band T-shirts and Sweatshirts

Haynes Band T-shirts and Sweatshirts have arrived!   Please send payment ASAP so we can send yours home.  We did order a few extras, so contact Mr. Phelan to get your student the most stylish shirts on campus!

High School Band

After school practices (Tuesday and Thursday)

Spring practices will run until 5:30, so we may be prepared for parades and festivals.  

• We are shifting toward an Attendance Policy for all rehearsals, to further encourage our students to organize their time efficiently.   Please note that COMMUNICATION IS KEY when resolving scheduling conflicts.  Parents, we ask that you help your students to plan ahead, and to address conflicts as soon as they arise.  This is a great skill for "the real world"!!!

Jazz Band

Our Jazz Band will not be able to participate in this year's Bill Evans Jazz Festival in Hammond.  We invite everyone to come out to see us at Lakeside Mall!  Saturday April 6 -- music begins at 10:30 at the Veterans Skylight.
