Our Marching Band had a solid performance at Metairie Academy, playing for a very excited group of 4th and 5th graders! We got to see some of our little brothers and sisters, and we definitely made some new friends along the way :). Please help us to thank Mrs. Lisa Babin and Ms. Elizabeth Mott for allowing us to perform, and for adjusting their school routine to accommodate us! (Just imagine trying to settle down 100+ elementary students after a 30 minute marching band performance :)
We will be traveling to Airline Park on Monday 10/30. We are looking forward to sharing our music with these future Yellow Jackets! If you have any little brothers or sisters there, please let Mr. Phelan know, so we can give them a "shout out" :).
Our schedule will be as follows:
11:30 students report to Band Room (snack and load)
12:00 depart
12:15 arrive
12:45 perform
1:15 load and depart
1:45 unload
2:00 students report to 4th period
It's time to register our students for District Honor Band auditions. All of our students should consider auditioning for one of the District Honor Bands, and we encourage everyone to try out.
(An Honor Band is simply a collection of the best musicians in our area. We pick the highest scoring students through the audition process, then pull them all together for a weekend of music and fun, culminating in a wonderful concert at Tulane University!)
Please encourage your student to audition. They may register for the auditions via the form below. The audition music is available via the link below. As always, contact Mr. Phelan with questions or concerns. This year's Junior and Senior High Honor Band auditons will be held Saturday Dec. 2, and the Elementary Honor Band auditions will be held Saturday Dec. 9.

Dr. Jason Ladd from Nicholls State University visited our High School Band class on Oct. 24, and he had many positive things to say about our students (He really loved our energy and our focus!). He offered several useful tips to help us further refine our playing, and we hope to have him with us again soon.
On Nov. 6 we will have another visit from Dr. Robert Schwartz at Southeastern La. University. we enjoyed his visit last year, and we are looking forward to playing for him again.
If you have any pictures or video from any of our performances or activities, please share them to the folder linked here. Thanks!

Our Jazz Band had an impressive first performance! We are already looking forward to future shows in the Spring!
We had a solid first performance, and we definitely had some amazing costumes! We are now looking toward our next performances (possibly something around the holidays, and then concerts in the Spring)
We had a great show for the Halloween concert, and enjoyed makig spooky music for you :). Next up is hopefully a holiday performance (we're going to be looking at music from The Nutcracker Ballet!)
We had an amazing first performance, and we really enjoyed seeing and hearing all of the other groups! We are looking forward to pushing ourselves further along, and we'll be performing for you again in the Spring! If you have not done so, please make sure that your student has their own copy of the Essential Elements for Band books 1 and 2, for their specific instrument.
We enjoyed our first performance, and we did a great job with both tunes! We will also be looking at the Nutracker Ballet music, and may even try to team up with the 7th and 8th grade Percussion class for a tune or two around the holidays!
Please visit our Calendar for all the latest updates, and feel free to contact Mr. Phelan at any time with questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
