The Haynes Marching Band has been outstanding at our first two football games! We add tons of excitement to the game, and we look and sound good doing it. We've now marched for two halftime performances, and have received several compliments from parents and community members alike complimenting our students. Most importantly, we have loads of fun during the game, and we invite all of our middle school musicians to join us!
A special THANK YOU goes out to everyone who was prompt in picking up their student :)
Our next Marching Band performance will be Oct. 31.
Our Spooky October Concert is NEXT WEEK! All of our student groups are preparing to put on a great show, and we are sorting out costume ideas, too! (Costumes are definitely OPTIONAL, but so much fun when possible :)

If your company or organization is interested in sponsoring one of our pre-football-game meals, please contact Mr. Phelan for more information. We feed about 100 students (including the Jackettes Dance Team, who are sharing the expense) before each game.
Our Marching Band will rehearse this semester on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 5:30. (This is a correction.). We will continue to learn tons of new music, and we will perform at halftime during fotball games. (Much of these practices will be OUTDOORS, so we encourage our students to eat and drink appropriately.)
Jazz Band is off to a great start! We have a solid group of musicians involved, but are always open to including more students -- especially in the lower voices. Mr. Genevay will be joining us again this week, and we appreciate his dedication to our students. This week we're rehearsing on Thursday until 5:00.
Congratulations to several of our Haynes Academy Middle School Band students, who were selected by audition to the second round of the LMEA All State Middle School Choir auditions! They will audition again on Saturday Nov. 2 for a chance to be a part of the first-ever LMEA All State Middle School Choir!
Sopranos Valerie Gaffney and Camille Oxenrider

With our Spooky October Concert just over one week away, we're working hard to prepare our music! Lord of the Rings and Thriller are challenging, so we strongly encourage all of our musicians to be practicing at home every night.
All 7th and 8th grade Band students must purchase their own copy of the Essential Elements for Band Book 1 and 2, for your student's specific instrument. Contact Mr. Phelan with questions or concerns.
With one week to go, we're working hard on Spooky Scary Skeletons. We think you'll really like it!
All of our percussionists should have their own practice pad and sticks at home for personal practice. (We have a class set of pads, so students may keep theirs at home.)
It's hard to believe that our first performance is only a week away! We can't wait to perform for you! We'll be playing Shark Attack and one other piece from our books.
All Beginning Band students must purchase their own copy of the Essential Elements for Band Book 1 and 2, for your student's specific instrument. Contact Mr. Phelan with questions or concerns.
We've been enjoying the African drums, and we may also play one piece on melodic percussion, too, for our Spooky October concert.
