I will be your child’s special education teacher this school year and I wanted to let you know a little about myself. My name is Beth Gates. I have lived in the Weston community for the past 19 years. I am married to Greg Gates and we have 5 wonderful children and three grandchildren. We enjoy spending time together as a family by watching movies, playing board games, and attending church.
I graduated from the University of Louisiana with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education in 2001 and with my Masters of Arts in Special Education in 2023. I have taught in the state of Louisiana for 23 years, and before that I taught preschool in the state of Ohio for 3 years. This will be my 17th year at Weston.
I personally enjoy reading, quilting, and sewing. I am by no means an expert in any of these areas; they are just fun hobbies that I like to participate in during my limited free time. I truly love teaching. The best part of my day is seeing a child’s face light up when he or she “gets it!!”
I will be working with your child on his/her Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals. I’m excited to be working with your child, and I look forward to seeing the progress that will be made.

I hope that this letter gives you a little background information about me and that it will help you to entrust the teaching of your precious child to me. I know that this is going to be an amazing year.
Sincerely,
Beth Gates
