The tenor saxophone is a woodwind instrument that is made of metal. Like the alto saxophone, it uses a single reed. Saxophones come in different sizes (soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone). Tenor saxophone is the most like the adult male voice.
Physical Characteristics: Since the balance of the saxophone is maintained by the use of a neck strap, it is extremely important that students be able to sit up completely straight when asked to.Â
Other Considerations: The saxophone is more expensive to rent than most other wind instruments. Saxophone players are responsible for maintaining a working stock of 3-4 quality reeds.
