Miriam Catron is a musician, educator, and entrepreneur that resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband and three children. Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, she began playing a musical instrument at the young age of seven. She set out on her music education journey at 16, teaching private flute and saxophone lessons to beginning and intermediate students. In 1996, Miriam moved to Chapel Hill, NC to pursue a degree in music. Shortly after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, she founded and led a successful music and arts school in Durham from 2002 to 2015. She moved out of the Triangle area in 2014, spending three years in Miami and six in San Diego. While in San Diego, Miriam served as the band director for grades 5-12 at a private school. It was during this time that she decided to add band instrument rentals to her business because, in her words, "I cannot expect my band students to pay what they are being charged by the larger band rental companies." This decision led to the expansion of her business, Joyful Noise, to include band instrument rentals. After having moved back to Raleigh in 2023, Miriam continues to operate Joyful Noise Rentals, allowing Triangle families to spend less on band rentals and more on life!
