ABSTRACT
Household waste management remains a problem in Pecalongan Village, Sukosari District, Bondowoso Regency, particularly due to the limited availability of waste management facilities and the practice of open waste burning by the community. This condition can contribute to air pollution and requires a more controlled waste management alternative. This community service activity aimed to provide a simple incinerator (Rocket Stove) as an alternative facility for household waste management, while improving community understanding of its proper use and maintenance. The activity was carried out through field identification, incinerator construction, preparation of an operational and maintenance module, socialization, direct demonstration, trial use, and monitoring and evaluation. Monitoring was conducted for four consecutive days from 3 to 6 August 2026. Initial observations showed that the combustion process was not optimal because wet waste remained in the combustion chamber, resulting in considerable smoke. Following cleaning of the chamber and further explanation regarding the use of dry waste, the combustion process improved and the amount of visible smoke decreased. The activity indicates that the provision of a simple incinerator needs to be accompanied by community education, routine maintenance, and monitoring. The program is expected to support more organized household waste management and reduce dependence on open waste burning in Pecalongan Village.
