My name is Kara Cockerham and I am a proud 2012 Graduate of Joshua ISD. I started colorguard in 7th grade when I attended Loflin Middle School and continued through my senior year. After graduating from JHS, I attended UT Arlington and received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I continued my education by attaining a Dance Teaching Certificate in order to bring colorguard to the classroom at Joshua ISD.
I continued my colorguard expertise after graduating from JHS by performing and competing with World Class organizations in Winter Guard International and Drum Corps International from 2013-2017. I was a performing member of the Dallas Cowboys Colorguard and was able to perform at the Cowboys halftime games. Before returning to Joshua ISD as the Colorguard Director in 2016, I taught at various districts in the area since 2012 and was a staff member for World Class Organizations from 2017-2020.
I am currently the North Texas Colorguard Association Steering Committee Chairman and am pursuing more roles in the competition circuit that the Joshua High School program competes in during the spring. I hope to create a positive environment for all students in the numerous schools that participate in NTCA.
I am excited to start the new school year and look forward to a bright future ahead with the Joshua ISD Colorguard program.
