Every year the Joshua Essence Colorguard program strives for excellence by pushing the program to higher levels of performance. Essence performs with the SOJ Marching band for football half-time shows as well as marching competitions.
Every year the Joshua Essence Colorguard program strives for excellence by pushing the program to higher levels of performance. Essence performs with the SOJ Marching band for football half-time shows as well as marching competitions.
Each spring semester, Joshua Essence competes in the indoor season with North Texas Colorguard Association against teams across the DFW area. Essence has continued to show success in their competition season. We accomplished our goal in 2024 by entering Winter Guard International contests for the first time since 2010. We hope to continue to push our competitive season by attending a WGI contest in Tulsa, OK in 2025.

The Essence Colorguard will work together as a community to improve underskilled abilities and gain a larger vocabulary to exceed the success of prior years. We will progress our performance ability by using rehearsal time to our advantage by focusing on the critique given, going full out every rep, and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone. Success does not come from physical strength alone, we will also improve as a team by building a healthier mindset together to become more confident on and off the performance floor.
