Drop/Withdraw from a course

Dropping a class

Students may drop classes through their College/Universe account within the designated drop period. This date is usually within 2 weeks after the start of the class. The student must drop the class at the high school level and if they registered for the class through the college, they will need to drop the class from their college account as well.

Withdrawing from a class

Students may withdraw from CE classes after the drop dates have passed but before he withdrawal dates have passed.

Things to consider when withdrawing:

  • Colleges do not give quarter grades, and if a student withdraws, he or she may lose the quarter credit for high school. Students need to check with high school counselors to see if the credit is needed for graduation before withdrawing.

  • Students will receive a "W" on their college transcripts and this may affect the ability to receive federal financial aid.

    1. If a student has withdrawn or failed more than 30% of their attempted college credits, their federal financial aide may be affected.

    2. Students might also be placed on academic probation for their first semester on campus.

    3. A "W" cannot be removed from a student's college/university transcript. However, a failing grade can be replaced by retaking the class on campus for full tuition.

  • Students will still be required to pay CE tuition after the drop deadline has passed.
