Parent/Student Contract

I have received, read, and understand the policies, expectations, and responsibilities outlined in the 2023-2024 Oquirrh Hills Orchestra disclosure. 

I know that I must provide/rent my own instrument instrument. 

I commit to bring all required instrument accessories (rosin and shoulder rest/anchor strap), a pencil, music binder, and method books to class each day.

I understand that weekly play tests are required to be recorded with my Chromebook and submitted as a media file on Canvas.

I understand that orchestra is a year-long course with required after-school performances that can only be excused for illness or emergencies, unless pre-arranged in advance with Mrs. Christensen.  

I understand that I must provide and wear an all-black ensemble for performances (which can be borrowed or purchased second-hand at thrift stores).

I have recorded our quarterly performance dates on our family calendar. 

I understand that trimmed fingernails are a requirement for playing a string instrument.

I understand that I am responsible for the care, safety, and security of my own instrument and that only my teacher(s), an experienced string player, or a luthier (repair person) should handle or tune my instrument.

I commit to treating others and their property with kindness and respect and to keeping instruments in our rehearsal room safe.

I understand that any damages to my instrument or someone else’s instrument (including classroom instruments) caused by my poor choices or improper “repairs” are my family’s financial responsibility.  I promise to pay to repair or replace all such damages, to be completed by a trained and approved luthier/repair person. (GET THE PROTECTION PLAN FROM THE MUSIC STORE!)
