I LOVE teaching! I especially love being with 1st graders! This is a picture of me in 1st Grade. I still remember this principal. He chose me for a special project and it made me feel special. Gotta say I totally dig the fashion. Just remember, one day you will get old too and your kids will laugh at what you wore.
I have had the opportunity to teach many different grade levels. I have taught Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. My home is in 1st grade though! Our kids grow and change so much during this important year in school.
Besides teaching, I love going to school and learning. I received my Bachelors in Arts from Westminster College where I majored in education with a minor in ESL (English as a Second Language). I have my ESL endorsement (an endorsement is additional schooling with an emphasis in a specific area), math endorsement, educational technology endorsement, and this past summer I began classes for my reading endorsement.
Besides going to school and teaching little ones, I enjoy teaching and working with teachers. I have worked with the district's Dual Language Department teaching math professional development class for its teachers. I sat on the district's Teacher Advisory Committee for the district's Language Arts Department as well.
In 2017 I won the Jordan Education Foundation's Outstanding Teacher of the Year award. It was nice to be recognized for the hard work I do.
When I'm not teaching or learning at school, I love to hang out with my family. I have two nephew's that I adore and spend as much time with them as possible. I love to read and debate with my youngest nephew, much to the annoyance of the rest of the family.
When I'm not hanging out with my family I enjoy creating and crocheting new things. If you were to ask my family, they would say I spend more time collecting yarn than crocheting with it. I have to admit, they may be right. During the summer our family likes to take the kayaks out for a spin.
Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me. I look forward to working with your family this year.
