***Schedule changes cannot be made to accommodate friend, lunch, period, or teacher preferences***
We have staffed our school based on the class requests your students made during our Pre-Registration meetings in January of each year. There is limited mobility for students to change classes that were not requested.
With schedule changes our main priority will be to resolve conflicts and placement errors in student schedules.
(For example: if a student is missing a required class in their schedule or if their teacher assignment for a specific class does not remain the same from semester to semester).
Schedule changes are only available during the schedule change window
Semester 1: August 19th 2026 - August 31st 2026
Semester 2: TBD 2027 - TBD 2027
We will allow schedule changes for elective classes only. Changes must be made in the schedule change window and cannot change based on teacher, period, or lunch preferences, or to be in a class with friends.
All students wanting to request a change will need to meet with their counselor to quickly discuss the schedule change. Counselors will be available during lunch (in the lunchroom) to meet with students.
Counselor Meetings Semester 1: August 19th to August 25th, 2026.
Counselor Meetings Semester 2: TBD 2027
If the request is appropriate counselors will provide students with a Schedule Change Request Form. In order for the change to be made official the form will need to be signed by their parent/guardian and returned to Student Services before the due date:
Semester 1 deadline: Thursday, August 27th, 2026 @ 3:30pm
Semester 2 deadline: TBD, 2027 @ 3:30pm
Schedule change requests are not guaranteed. If a change is made it may influence several classes in your schedule including lunch, and likely cannot be changed back. Please consider all aspects of a schedule before making a request.
Any changes to schedules will be completed in Skyward by the end of the day listed below. You will be notified if a change can or cannot be made. Please be patient and do not complete multiple requests.
Semester 1 changes completed: Monday, August 31st, 2026 @ 3:30pm
Semester 2 changes completed: TBD @ 3:30pm
After the deadline and the schedule change window closes all changes will be considered on a case-by-case basis pending a meeting with the student, parent/guardian, teacher, and administration. Teacher or Schedule Change request form below will be required after the schedule change window closes.
**Schedule changes cannot be made to accommodate friends, lunch, or teacher preferences**
(updated August 2026)
If your student removes a state-required course through the Jordan District Course Exemption Form there may be a wait before an extra elective is assigned. Each student has a set number of elective periods available due to the State Requirements for each grade.
Electives available in 7th grade: 1.5
Electives available in 8th grade: 2.0
Electives available in 9th grade: 2.5
Our Master Board is built around this structure based on initial course selections in January. Removing a required class through a completed Exemption Form often means a student taking more electives than typically available.
To ensure fairness, we prioritize newly enrolled students and those taking the standard number of electives. With a large population and growing area MCMS classes fill quickly. We need to make efforts to have new students have an opportunity to sign up for their desired electives before scheduling them for students removing a course.
After all schedules are finalized and core electives are assigned, we fill any remaining elective slots for students who opted out of a required course.
This ensures equity and that everyone has a full schedule.
We appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions or need a JSD Course Exemption Form please reach out to your school counselor.
