Exciting announcement! Mountain Creek Middle School has officially obtained the RAMP® designation for our School Counseling Program through the American School Counseling Association (ASCA). We are so proud to be the 5th school in Utah to ever earn RAMP!
“This year’s RAMP honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession,” said Jill Cook, ASCA executive director. “These schools used data to drive their program development and implementation so all students can achieve success. The RAMP designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to strive for excellence.” Mountain Creek Middle School will be honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA’s Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA., on July 13, 2025.

Summer School Options 2026
As registration has opened for us at MCMS and HHS we know many of you may be looking at summer classes for the 2026-27 school year.
If you plan to take classes during the summer, remember that the grades you earn online during summer count towards graduation and your GPA. By signing up for a summer class you understand the class will be removed from next year's schedule. If you do not earn credit for a required class (i.e. PE) the class will be scheduled next year and an elective dropped.
Mountain Creek Middle School or Herriman High School
MCMS & will not be offering summer credit. Registration for HHS Summer Drivers Ed. started March 9th. (See your counselor or HHS’ website for more information). Classes for Credit Recovery will be available through HHS during summer. Reach out to HHS’ counselor for more information and availability.
Jordan Credit Center (JCC) (sign up available March 2026)
Free summer classes will be available through the District’s new Jordan Credit Center. Classes are asynchronous providing flexibility to learn at your own pace. Classes run June 9th through August 7th 2025. Classes available: PST (PE-9), Business Office Specialist (9th or 10th) Exploring Computer Science (9th or 10th) Health 2 (10th) Fitness for Life (PE-10).
To sign up for JCC summer classes download and complete the form liked here and return it to your MCMS counselor.

Pros: Free! District teachers. Earlier enrollment. Counselor help. Flexibility. Grades arrive quickly in Skyward.
Cons:. Limited classes for now.
State Online Education Program (SOEP/SEATS) (sign up online starting April 2026)
Notice: If you take any classes through the state online method the same amount of credits will be removed from your in-person schedule during the 2026-27 school year.
The State Online Education Program offers free summer classes for original credit! There are multiple online providers. More information on the program, start dates, and how to sign up can be found at https://www.schools.utah.gov/edonline.
To sign up for SEATS complete online registration at the link above and pay attention to the following directions:
Please use next year’s counselor email when signing up!
When signing up it is recommended to use a personal email address, NOT your school email.
Make sure you sign up for the right class. (i.e. 9th grade PE is called Participation Skills & Technique, 10th grade PE is Fitness for Life)
Registration is completed online only, do not return JCC paperwork if you plan to enroll in SEATS courses.
Pros: Free! Flexibility. Variety of different electives potentially offered.
Cons: The same number of credits taken during summer will be required to be removed from your schedule next school year (2026-27). No counselor guidance when signing up. Multiple providers to look through with multiple enrollments. Takes longer for the district to receive grades.
Other potential options:
Please see your counselor for other methods like BYU-Independent Study, or Northridge Learning Center.
Thank you Reality Town Volunteers!
On Thursday April 9th, 2026 MCMS 9th graders participated in a successful and fun Reality Town.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful volunteers who came help run booths! We couldn't have done it without you!
What is Reality Town? Reality Town is a 9th grade program that teaches our students that grades/decisions count in "real life". Your student will apply for a job based on their GPA. They will receive a month's "salary" and have the opportunity to pay the bills and try to balance the lifestyle they want to have. It is a lot of fun, and a great learning experience.
Registration for the next school year (2026/27) is in progress! Please complete your Registration Card for next year ASAP.
If you are new to the district our outside our school feeder system instructions to register can be found by downloading the Enrollment Information document. When ready please complete the registration card below and return to the Registrar.
If you are interested in doing any virtual (hybrid or full time) schooling during the 2025-26 school year you must register at the appropriate virtual school through their website below. For more information visit Jordan Virtual Learning Academy's website.

***Schedule changes cannot be made to accommodate friend, lunch, period, or teacher preferences***
We have staffed our school based on the class requests your students made during our Pre-Registration meetings in January of each year. There is limited mobility for students to change classes that were not requested.
With schedule changes our main priority will be to resolve conflicts and placement errors in student schedules.
(For example: if a student is missing a required class in their schedule or if their teacher assignment for a specific class does not remain the same from semester to semester).
Schedule changes are only available during the schedule change window
Semester 1: August 20th 2025 - August 27th 2025
Semester 2: January 21st 2026 - January 28th 2026
We will allow schedule changes for elective classes only. Changes must be made in the schedule change window and cannot change based on teacher, period, or lunch preferences, or to be in a class with friends.
All students wanting to request a change will need to meet with their counselor to quickly discuss the schedule change. Counselors will be available during lunch (in the lunchroom) and after school in Student Services to meet with students.
Counselor Meetings Semester 1: August 22nd to August 28th, 2025.
Counselor Meetings Semester 2: January 21st to January 23rd, 2026.
If the request is appropriate counselors will provide students with a Schedule Change Request Form. In order for the change to be made official the form will need to be signed by their parent/guardian and returned to Student Services before the due date:
Semester 1 deadline: Thursday, August 28th, 2025 @ 3:30pm
Semester 2 deadline: Friday, January 30th, 2026 @ 3:30pm
Schedule change requests are not guaranteed. If a change is made it may influence several classes in your schedule including lunch, and likely cannot be changed back. Please consider all aspects of a schedule before making a request.
Any changes to schedules will be completed in Skyward by the end of the day listed below. You will be notified if a change can or cannot be made. Please be patient and do not complete multiple requests.
Semester 1 changes completed: Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 @ 3:30pm
Semester 2 changes completed: Tuesday February 3rd, 2026 @ 3:30pm
After the deadline and the schedule change window closes all changes will be considered on a case-by-case basis pending a meeting with the student, parent/guardian, teacher, and administration. Teacher or Schedule Change request form is required after the schedule change window closes.
**Schedule changes cannot be made to accommodate friends, lunch, or teacher preferences**

The award was presented at the Utah School Counselor Association's Annual Conference on November 21st 2025. Mountain Creed Middle School is very lucky to have Mr. Parker, who works hard to make a positive impact at our school. Let's all celebrate Mr. Parker and his major award!

Thank you SO much to Daybreak legend Jason Yeaman for taking our traditional photo! Big props to Mrs. Jackson for organizing everything to be our smoothest Drone Photo yet!
Our beloved MaKayla Hegburg has finished her (second) Masters Degree and moving from the public education world. Starting next school year she'll be going to work full time as a therapist. As our original psychologist and a crucial part of our team she'll be missed dearly... yet we are also kind of proud of her.

Our fantastic Math teacher Mrs. Jensen shares insight about our Accelerated Math Program:
"Traditionally, Jordan School District has had 7th graders who are advanced in math skip 7th grade math and go directly into 8th honors. However, data shows that when students skip 7th grade math, they end up with some holes in their math understanding when they reach higher grades. For example, 7th grade math really delves into proportional relationships, and students who skip 7th grade math lack a deep understanding of proportions, which can impact their math learning later.
At our school, we chose to implement a new model which allows students to accelerate in math without skipping any math standards. Here (below) is an image which illustrates our model compared to Jordan District's model for acceleration. As you can see, in both models students end up one year ahead in math, taking Secondary 2 in 9th grade instead of 10th grade. However, in our model, students do not miss the 7th grade math standards and therefore have a more complete math education.
Because we are learning all of the 7th grade math standards and half of the 8th grade math standards in one school year, we move at a very fast pace. Even with our fast pace, last year 94% of my accelerated students achieved proficiency on the RISE math test! I feel very confident that this is a more complete way to accelerate in math. Data shows that students in this type of program achieve greater long-term success.
I believe we are the only school in Jordan District which follows this new model. (We are a new school, so we had the flexibility to implement a new program which follows the data, rather than just doing what's always been done). Jordan District's placement test assumes the traditional model because that's what most schools in the district are doing. If you have any further questions, please let me know" - Mrs. Jensen (kristi.jensen@jordandistrict.org)
