January 2025
Dear Parent / Carer
I would like to congratulate our school community on a positive and productive start to the new year.
Staff began the term with an INSET day focused on Teaching and Learning, launching our new classroom strategy of "no hands up and no opt-out questioning." This approach ensures that all students remain actively engaged in their learning and are continuously developing their thinking skills.
Year 11 and Year 13 students have now received their mock examination results. These serve as an important temperature check, helping students identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and overall examination technique. The combined support of school, students, and parents plays a crucial role in helping them reach their full potential.
January is also a time for looking ahead. Year 13 students are making important decisions about their next steps, including UCAS applications and future pathways. Year 11 students are applying for Sixth Form and college places, while Year 9 are beginning the process of selecting their GCSE options.
As we settle into the new term, we remind all students of the importance of excellent attendance and punctuality, both of which are key to success. Additionally, a reminder that our uniform expectations remain in place—trainers and hoodies should not be worn in school.
Let’s continue to build on this strong start and make 2025 a year of achievement and progress for all.
Warmest regards
Chris Price
