Overview
The purpose of Eighth Grade Social Studies is to allow students to develop a deeper understanding of the evolution of culture of the United States. Through a close and analytical study of eras, events, individuals, and forces of change, this understanding is advanced through a combination of selective factual knowledge and appropriate higher order thinking skills.
Assignments will be graded using a point scale and will be as follows:

Projects completed independently or in small groups
One project per unit
Vocabulary Quizzes: 50-60 points
Announced one week in advance
One assessment per unit
Unit Tests: 100 points
Announced two weeks in advance
Tests will range from 25-35 questions
One assessment per unit
