Bigger picture book selection by L💘ki! 

I think this school’s library needs a bigger picture book selection because I think picture books are nostalgic.  The reason why I think picture books are nostalgic is because they remind me of kindergarten.  Books like The Lorax, Where the wild things are, The Pout-pout fish, Curious George, If you give a mouse a cookie, and The Giving Tree were all books that my teachers read to me when I was in kindergarten/1st grade.  The library currently has 331 picture books but I think this library still needs more.

How do kids feel about ISASPS? Interviewing Hailey F.

We have state testing called ISASPs every year. They test us in language arts, math, and sometimes science. I am interviewing Hailey Foster, a 7th grade student at Summit Middle school, and asking her how she feels about ISASPs.

Me: Do you like ISASPs?

Hailey: No

Me: What are your favorite and least favorite subjects for ISASPs? Why?

Hailey: My favorite is math, because it is an easy subject for me. My least favorite subject to do is science because it’s confusing, and it is hard to remember what we did in science class.

Me: Do you think we should get rid of ISASPs? Why or why not?

Hailey: Yes, we already have AMath and AReading, so we don’t need any more state testing. Also, testing weeks are very stressful because teachers stress the importance of doing your best on ISASPs.

Me: How do you think we could make ISASPs better?

Hailey: We could make ISASPs better by making them take less time, and making them more relaxed.

Me: What are your least favorite things about ISASPs?

Hailey: I don’t like how teachers make it seem like such a big deal. Teachers doing this makes us even more stressed than we already are.

Me: Thank You for your time.

Hailey: No problem.

3 reasons why Dr Pepper is better than all other sodas

1 .First reason why Dr Pepper is better than all sodas is because, it’s unique flavor and better than others.

2 . Second reason why Dr Pepper is better than all other sodas is because, it’s better than Coke Cola because it has less caffeine and it doesn’t have as much sugar 

3 . Third reason why Dr Pepper is better than other sodas is because its, has a lot more flavors and options then Pepsi, Coke Cola, and Rootbeer

Why Uggs are better than Bierks

      Birkenstocks and Uggs seem to be the most popular, casual sandals worn at SMS (Summit Middle School).

     In my opinion Uggs are better than bierks. Here’s some reasons why. Uggs released their Tasman Slippers on December 1, 2023 and many of the students here at SMS grabbed themselves a pair. The slippers are sold in many different colors, are unisex, and can be personally customized. The Tasman Slippers sold out in what felt like just a few hours and many were unable to get them. 

Birkenstocks, on the other hand, peak during the spring and summer months. Due to the brand being more well known as an open toed beach sandal. Birkenstocks bestsellers are the following styles: Arizona, Boston, Mayari, Gizeh, and the Floridas.

Birkenstocks were a major staple of the 2010s and have been thriving since then. Although, the iconic jeans tucked into the Ugg boots worn in the early 2000s seem to be coming around again. Only now lots of people wear bootcut, baggy, cropped, or flared jeans over their boots. In my opinion, I don’t think jean-tucking should be brought back. This year’s winter months have been consistent with the low temperatures and Uggs are the comfiest, warm shoes. Overall both shoes are great in my eyes, but this year my Uggs won my heart over as I used them in  Iowa's rough winter conditions.

All communities should have lunch together in schools

I think all communities should have lunch together. First of all it would be easier because lunch would be in one period. Also everyone can see their friends even if they’re in different communities. For example someone might be in voyage but their best friend might be in mission. Next, some kids eat too late or too early because there are so many communities. If we combine some of the communities lunches , the times wouldn’t be so spread out. 

 We need better school lunch!

The school lunch we have everyday needs to be better! The school lunch we have could be improved by making it warmer and there could possibly be more sides and the lunch could taste more flavor, and most of the time the lunch is cold or tasteless.  Also most of the time lunch is in small portions. So for the orange chicken with ramen the ramen is tasteless and cold and the orange chicken tastes weird and taste’s like cough syrup and the potato smiles taste like nothing so i say we change the school lunch better.

Why kids should be able to move more in school

In my opinion I think kids should be able to move more in school because it can be hard to focus in school and when you have to sit in a chair almost all day and it is healthy specially for younger kids to move more and get there energy out and when you get older and are in school most times you get no recess and this is why kids should be able to move more in school.
