Am I telling my age with this one? Maybe so, but 2nd Grade is when I realized how much I loved learning. This photo hangs on the wall behind my desk serving as a reminder of when I was certain I had the heart of a teacher. It's when I was able to recognize my own curiosity and when I found a passion for education. The early joy I had in primary classrooms from some of the world's best teachers inspired me to become a teacher! I knew from an early age I wanted to help other children find the same excitement and confidence in their learning journeys.
Hello!
My name is Nikki Johnson. I am a 2nd Grade teacher at Porter Elementary. This is my eighth year in education and my seventh consecutive year in 2nd grade. My husband’s name is Wayne and we have two children: Grady and Lauranna. Grady and Lauranna will be attending Kindergarten at Porter this year! I love teaching, iced lattes and being near the water! I strive to make learning fun and meaningful, and I feel blessed to be part of my students’ journey.
My mission is to be an inspiring and encouraging force in the lives of all of my students so they are enthusiastic about their own learning and willing to learn each day. It is my mission to ensure lessons are student-centered and differentiated so that every child gets the support they need. My classroom will serve as an inclusive safe place in which all students learn to appreciate and respect diversity in their class and the world.
