Private Mentoring
From intention to action — with someone alongside you.
From intention to action — with someone alongside you.
A life-changing diagnosis can leave you with information coming from every direction — doctors, treatments, family, friends, the internet — while you're trying to work out what any of it means for the way you actually live.
You may know you want to participate more actively in your own life. You may already have things you want to change.
But turning intention into consistent action can be difficult when you're trying to do it alone.
That's where I can work alongside you.
This is a private 12-week programme for people who want to take a more active role in the way they live following a life-changing diagnosis.
Over 12 weeks, we'll work together to identify what matters most to you, where you still have influence, and the changes you want to begin making.
We'll use the principles of The Remission Attitude, your Companion Workbook and the practices you're developing as starting points — but this isn't a rigid course that everyone follows in exactly the same way.
Your circumstances are different. Your priorities are different. The programme is built around you.
Over the 12 weeks, our conversations will focus on the areas that matter most to you.
That might mean rebuilding a sense of direction after diagnosis, developing daily practices you can actually sustain, looking at where you still have choice and influence, or simply creating some structure when life feels uncertain.
At the heart of our work together are The Seven A's of The Remission Attitude — a framework for moving from the initial shock of diagnosis towards greater participation in your own life.
Acceptance
Acknowledging where you are now. Not resignation, and not giving up — but accepting the reality in front of you so you can begin deciding what to do next.
Awareness
Beginning to notice your thoughts, emotions, habits and daily patterns. You cannot change what you do not notice.
Autonomy
Recognising that your diagnosis has not taken away who you are. You still have a voice, values, preferences and choices. Your life still belongs to you.
Affirmations
Reinforcing the beliefs, strengths and qualities you want to carry forward — particularly when fear or uncertainty begins speaking more loudly than you do.
Agency
Identifying what remains within your influence. You may not control the diagnosis or the outcome, but there are still decisions you can make and areas of your life in which you can participate.
Action
Turning what you believe and what you've learned about yourself into practical steps. Because intention becomes meaningful when we do something with it.
Adaptability
Learning to adjust when circumstances change. The plan may need to change without abandoning the principles, direction and way of living you've chosen.
This isn't twelve weeks of me telling you what to do.
We begin with where you are now and what you most want to change.
From there, we'll meet regularly over the 12 weeks to talk through what's happening, what you're discovering, what's working and where you're getting stuck.
Between our conversations, you'll have practical things to work with — not an overwhelming list, but actions and practices we've agreed make sense for you.
As the weeks progress, we review, adjust and build on what you're learning.
The aim is not for you to become dependent on me. It's for you to become increasingly confident in your own ability to make decisions, take action and adapt.
I won't pretend to have all the answers.
What I can bring is my own experience of living through a life-changing diagnosis, the principles I've developed through The Remission Attitude, and the perspective that comes from years of putting those principles into practice.
I'll listen. I'll ask questions. I'll challenge you when I think it may help, and I'll encourage you to look at what remains possible rather than only at what has been taken away.
I'll also respect the boundaries of this work. I'm not your doctor, therapist or counsellor. I won't tell you what medical decisions to make or promise you a particular outcome.
What I will do is work alongside you as you develop your own way of participating more fully in your life.
You've been diagnosed and don't know what to do next.
You're doing everything medically asked of you, but want to participate more actively in your own life.
You feel as though you've become a passenger in your diagnosis.
You know something needs to change, but you're not sure where to begin.
You've started making changes, but you're finding it difficult to maintain them on your own.
You want someone alongside you who understands the uncertainty — without telling you how you should live.
You don't need to have everything figured out before we talk. That's the point of the conversation.
You don't need to decide today whether a 12-week mentoring programme is right for you.
We can begin with a private 30-minute conversation about where you are, what you're dealing with, and what you would like to change.
There's no obligation. It's simply an opportunity for us to talk and see whether working together feels like the right next step.
