How Much For Tranquilty? - 60 minute play

How Much For Tranquility? is an anthology of three plays: Anak, The Drive, and White Room. A coming of age piece, Tranquility explores specific dynamics prevalent in Filipino households and sheds light on familial issues that are too often kept in the shadows due to societal and cultural stigma.

The trilogy calls for a cast of three to play all the roles in the plays, 2 females and 1 male.

Anak: Mia sits in a session with her therapist Jane and discusses the relationship she has with her mother, who has just moved in with her under the false pretense that she would also go to therapy. Having grown up with an unspoken set of rules that shaped their relationship, Mia recounts key moments of her life to Jane in search of inner peace as her mother continuously vies for her attention and distracts her through incoming messages on her phone. 2F.

The Drive: While driving to their destination, Jules and her dad reminisce about her childhood. Desperate to keep them from reaching their destination too quickly, Jules asks her dad an urgent question, one that seems to have shaped her adulthood, but he keeps pressing forward. 1F 1M.

White Room: After willingly submitting herself to The White Room, Sydney finds herself trapped until Violet, the voice she hears through the speaker box, decides she's "better". Day after day, Sydney struggles to fit into Violet's specific mold. But what exactly does "better" mean? 2F 1M.
