Joanne Roberts is a Filipina-Canadian journalist, filmmaker and speaker. She currently works with Citytv as a VJ and host. Joanne most enjoys reporting on the arts & culture scene in Winnipeg as well as human interest stories. Notable works include hosting a live in-studio panel during the 2023 Manitoba General Election on CityNews, hosting the CBC series "Being Asian. Competing Truths" and directing/producing the award-winning series "I Am" with CBC's Creator Network.

Joanne's work as a filmmaker revolves around sharing stories from the Asian diaspora. Her autobiographical film "Anak" won her the emerging filmmaker's pitch competition at the Gimli International Film Festival in 2020, along with a spot on the Most Fascinating Manitobans list the same year. 

Joanne is also a strong advocate for equitable representation in media and is often as a guest speaker on panels with organizations like Film Training Manitoba and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. In 2024 she moderated a session with guest speaker, Susan Thompson, O.M. about transformative leadership at Canada's Supporting Women in Film Trades Conference.
