Hailun's Family: In perspective of her Mother
Interviewed by Colin and Hailun, special thanks to both families that participated.
Brief Overview: Many answers that were given upon presenting the families with questions were very similar. Although there were some exceptions such as specific personal reasons as to why both families decided to migrate. The results were most similar upon asking about language barriers, family back in Asia and the expectations of immigrating to another country.
As we can see from the results, both families came to Australia with the intention of improving their current lives. In both cases, settling and adapting took time. With basic knowledge of English from his father, Colin's family was prepared for the move. His family and relatives arrived here many years before Colin was born. Meanwhile, Hailun was born overseas before her family decided to migrate to Australia. Surprisingly upon arriving in the new country, each family had some basic knowledge of the English Language, so they were able to move around easier. However, differences include who actually decided to migrate. In Colin's case, most of his relatives had migrated from Guang Zhou but in Hailun's case, most relatives of her family stayed back in Asia. No relatives moved to Australia on her side.
There are several traditions that both families follow, especially back in Asia. However, upon migrating to Australia, even though both families keep certain traditions, they are evidently not as strict anymore.
