This year in Pharmaceutical Science students have developed an understanding of organic chemistry functional groups and used this knowledge to determine the properties of some key pharmaceutical drugs. Student's have also explored the scheduling and drug approval process in Australia. The students have also explored micro-organisms in the role creating natural products that have been successful used as pharmaceuticals along with their life process that are key to designing drugs to prevent micro-organisism infections.
Finally, the ethics of drug marketing and social aspects of legalisation of drugs were explored and presented through a group presentation video. Students have developed a broader appreciation of the role of pharmaceutical science in society.
