Theme: Risk-taking behaviours
In this project, students demonstrate their understanding of the steps of the decision-making process (using the DECIDE model). They write a “choose your own adventure” story that guides a teenager through a common risk-taking scenario that would be relevant to teenagers at their school.

Grade 6 Wellness Wheel
Skill: Self-awareness
Theme: Personal Well-being
This project introduces the students to the holistic nature of health and well-being. Students learn about the six dimensions of health and give examples of health-enhancing behaviours that are specific and relevant to their lives.

The six dimensions of health were adapted from the ten dimensions of health found in Holly Alperin and Sarah Benes' book: Lesson Planning for Skills-Based Health Education.

Theme: Happiness, Positive Psychology
In this mini-unit, students learn about what happiness is and isn't, some common misconceptions about what makes us happy, and some evidence-based strategies to increase positive emotions. They plan a two-week Daily D.O.S.E calendar to practice small strategies every day for two weeks that might bring them happiness.
