Brittany Martin is the Director of Theatre at Jim Ned ISD, where she teaches both middle school and high school theatre and leads a comprehensive, student-centered theatre program. She believes theatre is more than performance—it is a powerful tool for building empathy, discipline, confidence, and creative problem-solving.
Under her direction, students participate in a wide range of theatrical experiences, including full-length productions, original works, UIL One Act Play, theatrical design, technical theatre, and student-led showcases. Her programs emphasize ensemble-based storytelling, strong visual design, and meaningful, character-driven work, ensuring that students have opportunities to perform, design, lead, and create at every level.
Brittany has a strong record of competitive and educational success. For the past seven years, her students have advanced to the UIL State Theatrical Design Contest, earning multiple first-place finishes at the state level. She has also coached a nationally winning playwright in the International Thespian Competition, reflecting her commitment to developing original student voices alongside traditional performance skills. In addition, her directing work has led both high school and middle school One Act Play teams to district championships, highlighting the strength and consistency of her programs across grade levels.
In addition to directing, Brittany is an active playwright and creative educator who frequently develops original and adapted works designed to challenge students artistically while remaining accessible and engaging. Her approach blends traditional theatre training with innovative staging, movement, and design, encouraging students to think critically and creatively both onstage and off.
Above all, Brittany is dedicated to cultivating a theatre environment where students feel supported, challenged, and valued. She strives to build programs rooted in teamwork, accountability, and pride—where every student, whether actor, technician, or designer, plays an essential role in the story being told.
