Scheduling

Schedules are necessary in any classroom. Online classes may require more variances with schedules, meaning that it is not just a daily timetable of classes that need to be scheduled. Instructors need to ensure they have a weekly and daily schedule for course delivery, as well as a schedule for communications and connections with students, supports and families. Scheduling online courses requires that instructors consider how much time is really needed for specific components of delivery (For example, could a video tutorial replace lecture time to free up an opportunity for instructors to have one on one meetings with students?).

There are other considerations as well, for example, are attendance and completion tied together? Meaning, if a student completes all the necessary components of course materials, do they really need to be present online?

One of the most important scheduling considerations has to do with determining how much time is allocated to Asynchronous and Synchronous delivery.
