Jim Hogg County ISD is committed to delivering high-quality educational resources that foster active engagement in meaningful learning experiences for students.
Instructional resources encompass both instructional materials and library materials. Instructional materials are developed to support the teaching of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and to advance the District’s educational goals. These materials include textbooks, classroom supplements, and other resources—both print and electronic—used in formal or informal instructional settings. By providing students with instructional and library materials that are compliant with state laws, we strive to offer students a collection that is driven by the best education possible.
Texas House Bill 900, also known as the READER Act, became law on June 13, 2023, and took effect on September 1, 2023. This law establishes guidelines for reviewing, rating, and selecting school library books to ensure that materials are suitable for students in Texas public schools.
