The journey to becoming a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1) follows these four clear steps:
Classroom & Lab: Complete the 6-week curriculum and pass the comprehensive exit exam.
Clinical Rotation: You will have 30 days post-completion to perform 40 successful blood draws at a designated Sutter Health laboratory.
National Exam: Once your draws are verified, you are eligible to sit for the CPT-1 licensing exam.
Certification: Apply for your state license through the CDPH.
Eligibility - Must be a currently enrolled or graduated Jessup University student.
Program Cost - $2,250.00
Additional Fees - Licensing exam fees are paid separately to the testing body.
Pending CDPH-FLS Approval - We are currently awaiting final confirmation from the California Department of Public Health - Field Laboratory Services.
Notification: As soon as confirmation is received, an email will be sent to all interested and currently enrolled students with instructions to finalize enrollment.
Orientation: An orientation meeting will be scheduled for all enrolled students several days prior to the program launch.
We are aiming for a June 1, 2026 start date. However, please note the following contingency plan:
Potential Delay: If state confirmation is delayed, the start date will move back two weeks to ensure all requirements are met.
Refund Policy: Should the program date be moved and you are no longer able to attend, a full tuition refund will be issued upon withdrawal.
