Brett R. Burton is the Director of Choral and Theatre Arts at West Jessamine High School.
Mr. Burton is a Madisonville native, a Madisonville-North Hopkins High School alumnus, and a Murray State University graduate, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education - Comprehensive and Master of Music Education degrees. He was a three-year Kentucky All-State Chorus member and a three-year member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, aging out with a 1992 DCI World Championship.
Now entering his 28th year of education, he has taught in Ballard County, Henderson County, and Hopkins County before coming to West Jessamine High School in 2015. His bands and choirs have earned district, state, and national honors, and he has held several district and state positions in KMEA and ACDA.
Mr. Burton is also the Music and Students Minister at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and has also participated in musical theatre companies in Madisonville and Lexington.Â
Larry Crawford is the Assistant Director and Accompanist of the WJHS Choral Department.
Mr. Crawford is a graduate of Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia and is married to Ellen Crawford, a retired choir director and former director in the Jessamine County School District. They have several grandchildren that they enjoy spending time with.
Mr. Crawford is an outstanding pianist whom you might catch playing with either a church choir, an honor ensemble, or even a jazz band or two. He is also a huge West Virginia Mountaineers and Cleveland Browns fan.
