Catherine Bass, Director

Catherine believes that public libraries play an important role in helping maintain a healthy, vibrant democracy. Prior to joining the JTL team, she worked at public and school libraries in Massachusetts, Montana, and South Korea. Catherine holds graduate degrees in Library & Information Science and Elementary Education, as well as a BA in Classics. She loves cozy sci-fi, Jane Austen novels, and YA horror. Ask her about the importance of graphic novels, best practices in literacy instruction, and her favorite board games.

Amy Place, Library assistant

Amy is a lifelong book lover who is thrilled to have joined the JTL team this summer. Harriet the Spy and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn inspired her to be a writer, then Hope was Here made her want to be a waitress, and since then it’s been a wild ride, from Mrs. Dalloway to Catch-22 to The Overstory to This Is How You Lose the Time War. All the books she has read and all the books she regrets not having the time to read have led her to the library, where she hopes to hear about the stories that you love. Also ask her about crossword puzzles, backyard chickens, Downton Abbey, and press-on nails.
