Now you know how to use one, create your own.
There will be (now complete) an optional 60-min session next week at the same time and place. You can sign up for it in the course assessment.
This video, created for the October version of this course, walks through the steps to create your own.
We'll expand on this in the 12/15 session.
So far we've used the "Fast" and "Thinking" modes of Gemini. There is another mode, labeled "Deep Research" which can be very useful when you want extensive information on a topic.
It's available as an option by selecting "Deep Research" using the "Tools" menu in the lower left of the "Ask Gemini" prompt box.
It takes much longer to respond: 5-10 minutes or more
It still uses the internet as its source, but digs deeper and makes more effort to use high-quality sources.
It produces nicely formatted reports of 5-20 pages.
Beware: To save a report, you must export it, usually to Google Drive.
Google provides many learning resources for individuals of all ages and levels of experience.
One which I find particularly interesting is Learn About.
You provide a topic. It provides multiple ways of learning about that topic. It's much more of a very helpful librarian than a tutor.
If you like the tutorial approach, try "Guided Learning" from the regular Gemini Tools menu.
I have gathered quite a few helpful links on the Resources page on this site, ones that go far beyond the topics addressed in the course. I suggest you review it and take advantage of the research linked there.
AI Resources List - Longish list by Jim, grouped by category
This is maintained in Notion, a complex but highly useful tool I depend upon. That's why it looks different
Note the list of categories at the top. Clicking on them will filter the list to show only the ones in that category.
