Scot Schneider, our director, is currently on sabbatical for the 2024-2025 school year, meaning Terra Nova High School is not offering Drama Classes this year. Drama Club and the Musical Production are still very active and are looking for participants that are interested in a creative outlet!
"My favorite project was the dialogues because I enjoyed working with another actor and making a scene seen on TV or in movies come to life" -Paige, Advanced Drama & Drama Student (12)
"I liked the dialogues because I was able to invest myself in a character" -Stephen, Drama Student (12)
Pantomime:
Pantomime is a form of acting without speaking that uses physical gestures, actions, and expressions to convey a story or emotion. Students begin with Pantomine to learn the basics about acting through their body.
Monologues:
A monologue is a speech given by a single character in a play or drama to express their thoughts or motivations. In Drama class, students perform monologues to learn how to perform on their own with words. Students learn about the importance of the beginning, middle, and end of a story.
I Am Poems:
I Am Poems are similar monologues but the main difference is that they are written by the actors. I Am Poems allow actors to portray a part of themselves on the stage.
Dialogues:
A dialogue is similar to the monologues, except dialogues allow actors to work with other actors. They work together to make a scene come to life.

"I learned more about how people act in certain situations and about what I could do. I also got to meet new people and discover new ways to have fun." - Phoenix, Drama Student (12)
"I learned life skills and how to be comfortable with public speaking and presentations. which is something that I will use in college when I'm trying to put myself out there." - Avery, Drama Student (12)
Brown bags are a chance for drama classes to showcase their work! Performers will be working on a monologue, skit, or fable for weeks, perfecting their scenes, and then 1-3 performances are chosen for the brown bag. Brown bags are held in the drama room as a mini show during lunch. Students and teachers are welcome to come and watch these performances free of charge!
"Drama Club is a space for everyone to come and express themselves. Theater is a place free of judgement that can be comforting for many students. It is a place where people can meet others with similar interests and we do all sorts of things! Mainly, we will work on small performances to put on during our Brown Bags (shows in the drama room during lunch!) But, we are open to creative and fun ideas!" --- Loren Webster, President of drama club (10th)
