All Westport teachers use a Standards-Based Grading system. In this system, 80% of a student’s grade comes from Mastery scores (assessments or projects where they show mastery of a standard) and 20% comes from Progression scores (assignments where they show progress towards a standard). Students will have opportunities to retake Mastery assignments- the grade will then be replaced in the grade book.

Missing/Late Work

Pay close attention to due dates! With block scheduling, due dates may vary from class to class.

We can not stress this enough, the best way you can prepare to support your student towards success is to know how they are doing academically. Infinite Campus is the "at your fingertips" way to do that.

Once grades have been entered for an assignment you can see them immediately without needing to reach out and wait for a response or for your student to show you their returned work. We strongly encourage you to set up an account.

Students also have access to this resource by selecting "Campus Student". Their account has already been set up for them using their JCPS username and password.

Note- this is different than their email and teachers can provide this to them at any time.

We encourage families to walk through this website together and come to understand the 2 grading categories: Progression, and Mastery. While grades may appear in both google classroom and Infinite Campus- they will not always align perfectly. Infinite Campus is the final/most accurate way to check your grades.

Every class at Westport uses google classroom, it is a core part of how our school functions. Students will access resources/text, complete online assingments and turn in completed work using their google classrooms.

Students can access their google classrooms by login to clever with their JCPS email and password.

Watch this quick video to see how to navigate google classroom to check your returned work, missing work, and graded work!
