“If everyone is made in the image of god, and you are insulting, bullying, or belittling someone, doesn’t that mean that you are insulting, bullying, or belittling god?”-Rabbi Schmully Litvin
Judaism isn't only an important religion, but it also has many good stories and a very deep history. When you think of Judaism, what do you first think of? If you think of the holocaust, thats pretty common. Most people do. The point of these articles is to educate about Judaism, inform about things that go on within the religion, and have some fun with stories. Lessons will be taught, and stories will be told. Some fun, some not so fun, but they are all important in their own way. There will also be articles on Jewish holidays and different information about each of them. The goal for this is to spread the knowledge of these holidays, because not many people know about them. Some are smaller, less important holidays, and some are extremely important in the religion of Judaism. Stay tuned!

"Hanukkah is a special holiday because it's one where we're supposed to proudly show off our Judaism. We're not supposed to just like the Hanukkiah in our house, but we put it in the window to share our light with the world. At a time when there's so much darkness, it's great to be able to make the world just a little bit brighter each night of the holiday."-Rabbi Ben Freed
Recently in December, the festival of lights, also known as Chanukah, happened. Chanukah came to be because of the Greeks fighting the Israelites. The Greeks lost. The little bit of oil the Jews had for the Menorah burned for 8 days and 8 nights instead of the 1 day and night that was expected. Lighting the Menorah is a mitzvah, or good deed. On this holiday, we make Latkes. These are fried potato pancakes. On Chanukah, you eat foods fried with oil to celebrate the miracle of how the oil lasted for as long as it did. Another Jewish event that happened recently is the Holocaust Remembrance day on January 27. The Holocaust is when the Nazis killed 6 million Jews in the death camps. This day is extremely important on the Jewish calendar. On a more positive note, Purim is an upcoming festival in March. Purim is about how a Jewish queen in Persia stopped a plot to kill all the Jews in a town in Persia. On that note, That is all the Jewish news for now!
