The Mock Trial Team

Seneca has an award-winning mock trial team that competes against other high schools. In a mock trial competition, students review evidence, decide how they want to present their case, write opening statements, witness questions, and closing arguments, and then perform their case against a team from another school. Scholars also learn evidence law and can object to their opponent’s introduction of evidence. Competitions take place in real courtrooms. In 2017, Seneca was ranked 4th in Kentucky in mock trial. In 2016, we received the Marc J. Rosen Sportsmanship Award for Kentucky. We have several former team members who have gone on to compete for their college mock trial teams. Jefferson County Teen Court

Seneca Pre-Law students have the opportunity to apply for and participate in Jefferson County's Teen Court program. Our students learn about the law while serving as attorneys, bailiffs, and jurors in real juvenile cases. They undergo training with local attorneys and judges. Congrats to the 8 Seneca Pre-Law students selected to participate in the 2020-21 program!
