Darrick Turner is a native of Mt. Sterling, KY. He earned his BME from Morehead State University in 2013 and a Masters in Education with a focus in technology in 2020. Mr. Turner is a dedicated and truly invested educator for our district. His primary instrument is trumpet but has been teaching strings in JCPS for 10 years. He also conducted the 2019 5th Grade All County Orchestra and received the "Thirty under 30" national award through Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

Mr. Turner started his first five years of his career at Fairdale HS and the last five years he has taught at Ramsey MS. Through COVID, Mr. Turner has gone from 65 students to 130, received “distinguished” ratings for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade orchestras each, more than 40 students being accepted into all county, over 40 events at solo & ensemble assessment receiving “distinguished” and “proficient”. Many students also participating in UofL Honors Orchestra and the Louisville Youth Orchestra. All their performances are seen on YouTube.

Mr. Turner served as KMEA District 12 Orchestra Chair, and served in the 6th grade all county orchestra committee for the 2023-2024 school year. In addition, Mr. Turner loves Ramsey and JCPS. He has set Ramsey to a standard of musical success and ensuring every student has a home in his class. In his spare time, he enjoys sending time with his wife Leah and daughter Hallie.
