Play the video on the left to show you how to navigate to and walk through the JCPS High School Math Curriculum Frameworks.
The Frameworks for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 are directly aligned to IM360 courses and provide additional support around coherence, optional lessons/activities, alternative access to materials, standards alignment, additional ML & ECE supports, and so much more. We strongly encourage teachers to dive into the updated resources and information included in these documents.
Required Courses by KDE for Graduation
KDE has outlined standards for Algebra 1, Geometry, and other standards above Geometry that are required for graduation. In JCPS, all remaining standards required for graduation above Geometry have been bundled together to create our Algebra 2 course. The JCPS Algebra 2 course is to allow students flexibility for their 4th-year math (or any year after completing Algebra 2) with the assurance they have met the required standards for graduation with the successful completion of each course.
A school can choose to create new courses that split up and encompass the “additional required standards”; however, the school would be responsible for making sure students who take that pathway have the sequence of necessary courses to ensure all standards are met and submitting the proper documentation for the creation of new courses. All JCPS new course creation and approval processes must be followed accordingly.
