What is the Hite/Middletown Family Resource Center (HMFRC)?

We are part of the Jefferson County Public Schools District and are funded with a grant through the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA). Family Resource Centers (FRCs) are designed to help remove non-cognitive barriers to student learning. We work to give students and their families easier access to health and human services through programs, referrals to outside agencies, and partnerships with groups inside and outside of the school. Our primary goal is to help our students lead happy, healthy lives and to succeed in school.

Our Mission

The mission of the Hite/Middletown Family Resource Center (HMFRC) is to provide services, activities, and guidance to families in order to build a bridge between the schools, home, and community. We work together with students and their families as they learn to shape the social and environmental forces that affect their daily lives.

We believe that if we remove the barriers that interfere with learning, our students can achieve and succeed and become productive members of society.

Kentucky--State-Mandated Core Components for FRCs

We have our own blend of programs and services, but all of them provide support in our State-Mandated Core Components, which are the following:

  1. Full-time childcare for 2- and 3-year-olds.

  2. After-school childcare for 4- through 12-year-olds. Full-time childcare is available during the summer and on other days when school is not in session.

  3. The Families in Training Program, which includes an integrated approach to home visits, group meetings, and monitoring of child development for new and expectant parents.

  4. Family literacy services or similar programs designed to promote lifelong learning and give parents and children the chance to learn together.

  5. Health services and/or referrals to health services
