Bloom / Hawthorne Family Resource Center

As a central component of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA), the Bloom/Hawthorne Family Resource Center (BHFRC) is funded by a state grant. The primary goal of the BHFRC is to remove non-cognitive barriers by working with the school and the community to offer the best services and support to our families so that our students can lead happy, healthy lives and be successful in school. We serve all who attend Bloom and Hawthorne Elementary Schools, as well as students and families who live in the Highlands community.

Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • assistance in finding quality,

  • affordable child care;

  • referrals and/or face-to-face programs for health services;

  • support for new and expecting parents;

  • referrals to community agencies for basic needs;

  • assistance with emergency clothing for students;

  • education to improve parenting skills;

  • opportunities for social and recreational activities for students and families;

  • crisis intervention; and

  • advisory services.

The BHFRC is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hawthorne on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons and by appointment on Monday and Wednesday; Although she splits her time between two schools, please feel free to contact Ms. Paguada-Gutiérrez whenever necessary by email: elvira.paguada@jefferson.kyschools.us or by phone 502.890.0737.
