Frequently Asked Questions
If I already attend Grace James Middle School; do I have to apply to Grace James High School?
CURRENT Grace James middle school students DO NOT have to apply for admission to our High School Program.
Is the application process the same for Grace James Middle School and Grace James High School?
This admissions process applies to BOTH our Middle School (6th-8th grade) and High School (9th and 10th grade) Prospective Students.
Will my application be reviewed by the admissions committee if it is missing any of the 3 parts?
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for entrance; ALL three steps must be complete.
Please work with your daughter to complete the additional portions of the application by the due dates.
If I turn in all my application items by the due dates; will I be accepted into this program?

When will I be provided the recommendation and interview link?
Once you have completed the district magnet application you will receive an email (make sure you have an updated email in the JCPS system) from Grace James with the last two steps (Recommendation Link and Interview Sign Up Link).
How many recommendations are needed?
Each applicant only needs one COMPLETED recommendation; however, we encourage applicants to obtain more than one recommendation to ensure your application is completed by the deadline.
Remember NO paper recommendations will be accepted; please have an educator or community member complete the Grace James Google Form.
What do I need to do if I am not a current JCPS student?
Students who are not currently enrolled in Jefferson County Public Schools will still need to complete the district's magnet application (step 1), a Grace James recommendation form (step 2), and the interview process (step 3).
In addition, academic records (grades, test scores, etc.) and other school records will need to be submitted to our magnet coordinator ( zina.knight@jefferson.kyschools.us).
When will I receive notification about the status of my application?
First round applicants will receive notification of acceptance or denial by the end of February.
This notification will be sent through both email and traditional mail.
How can I prepare for the VIRTUAL interview portion of this process?
The 10 to 15 minute student centered VIRTUAL interview will consist of questions about your student's interest in our academic program.
