Manipulated Image

TITLE : JUST BREATHE

CREATED BY: Kaitlyn Cummins Basham

GRADE: 7 (TECH)

Digital Tool: Pixlr and Camera App

Digital Device: iPad and School Computer

PROCESS:

The device used to take the picture: VILS iPad from the school - iPad 7th generation.

I chose the words JUST BREATHE because the original picture has a background of the Ohio river.

(This is the process my teacher shared with us in class. I followed the same process)

Choose your ideal background image based on the inspirational word, then add a NEW TEXT LAYER

Type in your text in the bounding box. Add the word HOPE (or any other word that will be an inspiration to others)

Bold fonts work best so more of the background image can be seen inside the text. We use “DADDY DAY”, an ideal sans serif font.

Increase text size and customize letter spacing. You can also apply a BOLD effect to give your text more emphasis.

Arrange your text so the background’s subject is within the text space.

Select the background layer. Layer settings: Duplicate.

To create the effect of the image inside the text, select the text layer again and change BLEND MODE: MASK

Select “background copy” and use ARRANGE TOOL (V) to resize and position the image into the desired composition.

When you’re done select the text layer. LAYER SETTINGS: MERGE DOWN to combine with the background copy.

Add an EMPTY layer and drag the layer below the “HOPE” layer. Use FILL TOOL (F) to fill the background with a color.

Finally, select the text layer and add FILTER: DROP SHADOW to simulate a realistic, professional-looking 3D effect.
