GRADE: 8 (TECH)
Digital Tools: iMovie, Photos App, Voice Memo, Pinnacle Studio
Digital Device: iPad, Lavalier mic
PROCESS:
Before going to the actual places we had to prepare for the trip:
Identified students who were willing to travel to the locations. A consent letter was sent to the parents.
We started preparing what to say and how to say it on Google Slides.
We practiced using a Professional Grade Lavalier Lapel Microphone Omnidirectional Mic with Easy Clip-On System Perfect for Recording with Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter
We recorded our voice on our iPads using Voice Memo APP while another student displayed the information on a clipboard.
We practiced many days in the hallways of our school prior to going to the actual locations.
At the Locations:
We used the VILS iPad to record.
The information was printed and held at a certain distance. The student who was assigned that location read the information but also recorded their audio on their own iPad.
Combining video and audio
The audio recordings were added to the classroom. The video and the audio were later merged using Pinnacle studio software.
Creating images:
Since all of us could not go together to all these locations, we took a picture in front of the green screen and then added it to show that we were all part of the team.
Combining all videos and adding music background
All the individual videos were combined to create one complete video on Pinnacle Studio
The background music: Title : Travel in Africa. Our teacher bought the music from Envato: https://elements.envato.com/travel-in-africa-NXF4GM9
Since the videos were created by different students, our STLP Coach helped combine all of them with Pinnacle Studio.
How did we decide on the locations:
We are also working on the STLP project - Uncovering black history in Louisville. So we decided to identify locations and create a video. Based on the location, interest of each student, and availability, we decided on the following places:
Layla Hendrickson - Farmington Historic Plantation (Thanks to Ms. Boals for bringing her daughter to tour on a Saturday) - December 10, 2022
Louisa Sarpee - Farnsley Moremen Landing (Thanks to Mrs. Sarpee for bringing Louisa to the location after school) - December 13, 2022
Sophia Woodward - Churchill Downs Backside Training Track (Thanks to Ms. Woodward for bringing Sophia on a Saturday) - October 28, 2022. Thanks to Ms. Peterson for getting us permission to visit this location.
Jaida Simpson - Wade and Braden Historical Marker (Thanks to Mr. Simpson for bringing Jaida when there was no school for students) - November 7, 2022
Noah Martinez - Online Research and Green Screen Recording.
