Adapted Sports Program

Adapted Sports Program 

Adapted sports are for children with physical disabilities which may include amputation, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, short stature, cerebral palsy, and significant visual impairment. Athletes do not have to be wheelchair users.

Athletic Opportunities

2024-2025 School year
Wheelchair basketball, archery, boccia ball, and track and field (seated and ambulatory).

Future sports
Swimming, wheelchair tennis, seated volleyball, cheer/dance.

Grades
Kindergarten-12th grade

Schools
This is a district wide program, available to any student within JCPS. If your child does not attend a JCPS school, please contact us directly to learn about potential opportunities for adapted athletics/activities. 

Equipment
All sports equipment, including sport wheelchairs, is provided at no cost

Experience
No experience needed but each athlete needs to be able to follow group instruction.

*If your student has an intellectual disability and is unable to follow group instruction, please check out Special Olympics- Kentucky for athletic opportunities that may be better suited for your athlete. If you are uncertain if your child is an adapted or Special Olympic athlete, please contact us directly.
