Joni Britt
My name is Joni Britt, and I am honored and excited to serve as the new principal of the Upper Academy at Shawnee. I graduated from Warren East High School in Bowling Green, KY in 1997. I was fortunate to earn a scholarship to play college basketball at Lindsey Wilson College. Where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2001. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in both Special Education (Campbellsville University) and Educational Leadership (Western Kentucky University).
I started my teaching career in my hometown of Bowling Green, KY at Warren Central High School in 2004. Ten years ago, I relocated to the Louisville Area to acquire a position that would not only enhance knowledge, but also challenge me.
My purpose is to provide an environment of mutual respect where students and staff can challenge each other in order to promote excellence in education. I personally believe in leading by example, not simply by words. I am excited about the opportunity to provide students with experiences that will not only allow them to survive, but to thrive as students at The Academy @ Shawnee.
Mrs. Britt resides in Louisville with her partner and two children, Brooklyn and Bo.
