Your school should list three important dates:
First Class: MEETINGS WITH 5TH GRADERS! Begins the week of Labor Day - Meetings with 5th graders to check in, answer questions, confirm rosters.
NO INSTRUMENTS NEEDED for this week!
Second Class: SPLIT GROUPS! This is the most confusing part of the start! This week is split into TWO groups for this week only! This is to get our beginners started with a good foundation before beginning full group classes.
INSTRUMENTS NEEDED for this week!
Group 1 meets only ONE day for this week ONLY! Group 1 is violin, viola, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone. Everyone else gets this day off this week.
Group 2 meets only ONE day for this week ONLY! Group 2 is cello, bass, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. Everyone else gets this day off for this week.
Third Class and beyond: FULL GROUP BAND AND ORCHESTRA CLASSES! We begin full band and full orchestra classes with everyone and all instruments! INSTRUMENTS ARE NEEDED! Each musician will attend class on BOTH DAYS of the week from here on out, following the regular band and orchestra schedule.Â
