2nd Grade Literacy 

Over the course of the school year, students will learn how language functions in different contexts, command a variety of word-learning strategies to assist comprehension, and make effective choices for meaning or style when writing and speaking. More specifically, we will learn how cues and strategies allow the reader to read and understand words, that letter-sound relationships are a key to unlocking unknown words in a text, and that readers use many different strategies for decoding and understanding unknown words and phrases. Our literacy resource is called Into Reading and is a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction.  We also supplement with phonics and phonemic awareness resources throughout our literacy block.
