Welcome to Second Grade

3/20-3/24-

Spring Break

Hi, I am Ms.  Melissa Broaddus!  I student taught at Vanderhoof  22 years ago and this has been my home ever since.   I have been in Colorado most of my life, although the ocean has my heart.    I am a Jeffco graduate as well and love teaching and supporting the district that I was once a student in.  I received my undergrad degree from Metro State in Denver and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University.  I have wanted to be a teacher ever since my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Nelson inspired me.  She made such a difference in my life at such an impressionable age and we are still in touch today!  I am honored and blessed to teach and pour into the lives of children.   At home, I am blessed with an amazing son, my dachshund Koda, and kitty Baxter.

My Favorites:

-Anything Purple

-Starbucks Pink Drinks

-Going to the movies

-Time with family and friend

-The Beach

-Kid food and shirley temples with cherries

I am excited to embark upon another year of learning, growing, and teaching your precious children. It is a true gift to be able to call all of you my “School Family!”

Hello! My name is Mandey Kay! I absolutely love teaching and am incredibly honored to be teaching second grade here at Vanderhoof for the second year! I look forward to another year working with an amazing team of educators and an amazing community. I have taught Kindergarten and first grade. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a young little girl!

I am a Colorado native and attended Jefferson County schools through high school. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Colorado Denver and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Outside of teaching, you will find me spending time with friends and family, reading, camping, swimming, or binge watching my favorite TV shows. I married my best friend, Eric, in 2016 and we currently live in Westminster. We have a ¨fur baby¨ named Apollo who has a lot of energy and gets a lot of attention!

Hello!  I am Koda, a six year old Piebald Dachshund. My mom rescued me 5 years ago, but I really rescued her!  This is my third year working at Vanderhoof as a pet therapy pup.  I also volunteer at Children’s Hospital visiting children that need love and cheer. You may see me wandering the halls on Fridays, which is the day I get to come to school.  I may be small, but I have a big personality and lots of love to share!  I love to visit classrooms and enjoy when kids write to me.  I even have my very own mailbox!  I can’t wait to get back to school and see you soon!
