Welcome to Second Grade

Hi, I am Ms.  Melissa Broaddus!  I student taught at Vanderhoof  26 years ago and this has been my home ever since.   I have been in Colorado most of my life, although the ocean has my heart.   

 I am a Jeffco graduate as well and love teaching and supporting the district that I was once a student in.  I received my undergrad degree from Metro State in Denver and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University.  I have wanted to be a teacher ever since my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Nelson inspired me.  She made such a difference in my life at such an impressionable age and we are still in touch today!  I am honored to teach and pour into the lives of children.   At home, I am blessed with an amazing son Tanner, my dachshund Koda, and kitty Oliver. I am also a Gigi to my granddaughter Rayla.

My name is Alyssa Kinghorn, and I am so excited to become a part of your student’s education! It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning and lots of adventures! 

I’m a Colorado native and grew up in the Golden area. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We have two amazing kids, Fiona who is almost ten and Sutton who is six and a half, along with two dogs, Stella and Clyde, and our cat, CAThy ☺.

I graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a minor in Early Childhood Education. In 2025, I also earned my Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

This is my twelfth-year teaching and my second year in 2nd grade! I love being a part of the Vanderhoof community and can’t wait to meet all the amazing 2nd grade families!

Hello, my name is Susan Linze.  This is my fourth year at Vanderhoof and I am excited to teach second grade this year. 

I value the education that I received as a student in Jefferson County and am proud to be a part of your child’s education this year at Vanderhoof.  

I am a Colorado native and I have a degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in Education from Regis University.  I love to travel and you can find me on vacation in the desert, the mountains or on the beach.  I enjoy all sports and am a big Buff, Bronco, Avalanche, Rockies and Nuggets fan.
