MAKER SPACE LAB

Maker Space is a perfect addition to our student led inquiry science program. It is a place to implement our STEM focus and enhance engineering and invention literacy. Where students of all abilities and backgrounds can take an idea and create something new, find ways to solve problems, and stretch their thinking outside the box. To take a vision and Make It. The ideas may be technical, artistic, musical, an improvement on something we know, or completely new and unique.

The various inquiry stations may include:

3D printing sketch up and prints Robotics programming

Makey Makey computer programming Coding and gaming

Circuits, batteries and bulbs Lower tech. shop/woodwork

Sewing and Textiles Prototypes

Arts, Crafts, Scrapbooking Computer and recording station

These stations will be an addition to our rigorous and engaging science and math curriculum. Students will be required to exhibit safe respectful, and engaged behavior in order to participate. They will be facilitated and supervised by NAMS teachers trained by CU Science Professionals.

These stations will be a way to incorporate different learning styles and talents to make projects that help students demonstrate understanding in unique ways. The Girls in Stem club will help with organizing and training for stations.

"Makers are artists, crafters, knitters, seamstresses, builders, programmers, engineers, hackers, painters, woodworkers, tinkerers, inventors, bakers , graphic designers and more.". See the website below and the embedded video for more on the purpose of a Maker Space.
